Abstract:   (30 Views)
This article intends to explain the capacities of Africa for the Islamic Republic of Iran and to describe Iran's foreign policy approach towards Africa. The article, through a qualitative descriptive-analytical method, attempts to answer the question of how the Islamic Republic of Iran's approach towards Africa can be evaluated. In response to this question, while emphasizing on the numerical strength of African countries in international organizations as well as their mineral capacities and consumer markets, the authors believe that despite obstacles such as: lack of mutual cognition, geographical distance, lack of complementarity between the economies of Iran and African countries, lack of direct and regular air and maritime connections, unilateral international sanctions against Iran, and lack of a comprehensive strategy for developing cooperation with Africa, the African continent is considered as continent of opportunities for investment by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Accordingly, in the first section, the history of Iran-Africa relations and the positive mentality of Iranians and Africans towards each other are examined. In the second section, the common points and opportunities for mutual benefit between Iran and Africa are analyzed, and in the third section, the obstacles and solutions for improving Iran-Africa relations are examined. The article concludes that the Islamic Republic of Iran, while striving to play a role in transferring science and technology to Africa, through an approach to strengthening the value chain, can improve its economic diplomacy in the African continent.
